Photo analysis- Mila Kunis

What is in the centre of the image?
The centre of the image isn't the main focus of the photo as it is of the models elbow. The focus is mainly on the right hand side of the composition.

What is on the periphery?
Behind the model is a plain background but there is not much shown as the model takes up most of the frame.

Has the photo been staged?
Yes the photo has been staged as the photographer has told the model how to sit and where to put her hand as it is not a natural position.

What do you think that happened directly before the image was taken?
I think tat the lighting and positioning of the camera would have been changed to fit the way the model was sitting.

What do you think happened directly after the image was taken?
After this image was taken I believe that the photographer would have repositioned the model and took some more photos with different angles to get a wide range of shots to choose from.

Is the entire photo in focus?
The model is entirely in focus making her stand out.

Is the lighting bright, dim or shadowy?
The lighting through the diagonally centre of the page is bright and the rest is shadowed to make that part of the image stand out and making the reader look at that part of the image first.

Is there any cropping?
I think that the lower part of her leg was cropped out because of the absence of it but it is not extremely obvious.

What age, gender and ethnicity does the model appear to be?
The model is female and appears to be in her 30's, the only ethnicity able to identify from the photo is white.

What can you tell about them from their dress?
She is dress provocatively by showing a lot of skin and hiding her clothes with her body.

Are they looking directly to the camera or looking away signifying distance?
The model is looking directly to the camera which will attract the attention of the audience.

Is the photo taken at a high or low angle?
The photo is taken directly opposite the model so is not a high or a low angle.

What is their posture? Does the posture hint at other activities?
The models posture is strong but confined which makes her look strong but reserved.

Where was the photo taken?
It looks as if the photo was taken in a studio as there is nothing in the background.

Is the setting real?
The setting is real as the model is just in a basic studio however they might have had her in front of a green screen and placed the background colour into it.

Why was this photo taken?
I believe that this photo was taken for promotional purposes for the actress or as a part of a magazine interview.

Where could you see your picture appearing?
I could see this image appearing in a magazine as a side photo along with a magazine.
